Introduction

Guthrie School is a successful Headstart to Grade 9 school located on the military base in Lancaster Park. Named after Air Vice-Marshall Kenneth M. Guthrie, the school was part of the Department of National Defense School District until 1993 when it joined Sturgeon Public Schools. The school enjoys a special relationship with the military base and a large percentage of our students are part of military families.

Motto

A Place Where People Come Together to Learn and Grow.

Mission

Guthrie School is “A Place Where People Come Together to Learn and Grow.” We place high priority on student success and have a tradition of strong academic programming and excellent results. Students have varied opportunities to develop leadership, citizenship, athletic and artistic skills. In partnership with parents and the community, we build students with character who show respect for each other and enthusiasm for learning.

Our school is a safe and caring environment. We have a Positive Playground program that encourages constructive play using different types of athletic equipment. Supported by a strong parent council, Guthrie School is a true community fostering growth for every student.

Beliefs

Guthrie School embraces the uniqueness of all children, each bringing diversity and strength to our school culture. Because of this belief, we work to include and support students with diverse learning needs in their schools and communities.

Please contact the school directly to discuss your child’s specific needs and the programs we offer.
